Parallelkrisen

Als wäre es nicht schon genug, dass die CO2-Konzentration in der Atmosphäre zunimmt, die Meere versauern, Stoffkreisläufe durcheinandergebracht werden und ein Artensterben in bisher unbekanntem Maße stattfindet – die ökologische Krise zieht eine Reihe weiterer Krisen nach sich. So zum Beispiel eine Krise der Vorstellungskraft, wie Amitav Ghosh in The Great Derangement feststellt:

«To identify how this happens is, I think, a task of the utmost urgency: it may well be the key to understanding why contemporary culture finds it so hard to deal with climate change. Indeed, this is perhaps the most important question ever to confront culture in the broadest sense—for let us make no mistake: the climate crisis is also a crisis of culture, and thus of the imagination.»

Der no-analogue state des Erdsystems im Anthropozän verlangt nach der kulturellen Imaginationsleistung, sich eine neue Rolle und Verantwortung des Menschen auszumalen. Das wiederum hat weitere Krisen zur Folge – entweder eine Krise der Hoffnung und Handlungsfähigkeit oder eine des Abwartens und der Lethargie.
